This band comes from two best friends, Nick Rhodes and John Taylor, Duran Duran they approve the name, derived from the Film BARBARELLA. They launched a self-titled album in 1981 and to capitalize single Planet Earth, Careless Memories and Girls On Film, the album they sizable gain success. After the success of the first album, Duran Duran released their second album in 1982, titled Rio. The album managed to bring great success, after launching the single My Own Way, Save a prayer, Hungry Like The Wolf and Rio.

In 1983 they re-released the single Is There something i should know and Seven and the ragged tiger. In 1986, Duran Duran and re-instituted the album titled Notorious.
